Take a moment to review these key tips to understand how your insurance works and what to expect, before you seek any medical treatment.
PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT TIPS AND FACTS FOR IENA’S HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY:
- Print out your insurance card and carry it in your wallet! You can also download and save a copy to the digital wallet on your phone!
- Before visiting a doctor or a medical facility, always call the phone number listed on your insurance card first, or search for a doctor online using the Student Zone! The insurnace company will help you find a local doctor, urgent care, or hospital that is in-network. This means the insurance company will help you find the most affordable treatment or location for your visit. Always call the insurance company first, unless you are experiencing a true medical emergency.
- IENA’s health insurance has a $50 deductible per injury or illness. This means if you visit an in-network doctor, you will pay a minimum of $50 for your visit, with possible additional charges depending on any necessary treatment or care.
- IF YOU VISIT AN EMERGENCY ROOM AND ARE NOT ADMITTED, YOU WILL PAY $350. YOU WILL BE PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FEE AND REQUIRED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. (TIP- Visit an Urgent Care facility for anything that is not life threatening)
- The network provider for this policy is United Healthcare (UHC). Please confirm that any doctor or urgent care you visit is in-network with United Healthcare before you receive treatment!
- REMEMBER, PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THIS INSURANCE POLICY. For any questions in regards to ensuring you have coverage for any pre-existing conditions, please contact Ron Furman via email at ron.furman@iena.org
