IENA’s first participants from Malaysia have arrived in the US to start their Summer Work Travel (SWT) program. They will live in Colorado, at the YMCA of the Rockies, in both the Estes Park and Granby locations.
Last year’s winter group had a blast at the Y, which offers outdoor recreation opportunities year round to guests and groups in the heart of the scenic Rocky Mountains. Positions at the Y are in house keeping, food and beverage, and laundry.
Here are some photos and insight from winter 17-18 participant Jia Min Ng.
“Work is going well. Quite tiring as housekeeping requires lots of strength.”
“I attended international cultural nights which was an eye opener to know more about other countries. We also presented about our country and it went very well. We wore traditional clothes, served Malaysian food and sang a Malaysian song. I miss food from my country.”

The Y is always a favorite destination for our SWT participants. We wish this group well and hope to hear more great feedback about their cultural exchange!
