FRUIT PICKING
This is the most popular job for backpackers. In February we expect lots of work to be in Hawkes Bay and also Nelson. Types of fruit at this time of year include wine grapes, pears, apricots, asparagus, olives and sweet corn, apples, raspberries and boysenberries. Commitment for seasonal work is usually a minimum of 4 weeks.

AU PAIR
Au Pairs are needed all of the country at this time of year because school holidays are ending and parents are going back to work. We recommend signing up with an agency such as Au Pair Link. Au Pair Link is free and includes full training for their Au Pairs. To apply for work through Au Pair Link you need to have at least 200 hours of childcare experience.

LIFEGUARD
Although Surf Life Saving is a volunteer position there are many paid Lifeguard positions all around New Zealand. Paid Lifeguard positions are mostly based at pools and aquatic centers. A qualifications required to be a Lifeguard however this course is often provided by the employer as long as you commit to more than 3 months work.

HOSPITALITY
Bar Staff, Baristas, Wait Staff and Sales Assistants are always needed all around the country. This kind of work is popular especially in our tourist hot spots such as Auckland, Queenstown, Rotorua, Wellington and the West Coast.

OFFICE WORK
As businesses start to get back into the swing of things for 2018 they begin to hire more and more staff. These jobs are available in our largest centers which are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The pay rate is from minimum wage $15.75 per hour to $25 per hour.
