This is the 75th anniversary of D-Day – one of the greatest events in history – that eventually helped liberate the world from the Nazi rule.
The picture below is of my father – he is the person on the right – age 18, landing on the beaches of Normandy. He was charged with carrying the radio for Lord Lovat.
My Dad did not talk that much about the war, but when he did it was always very heartfelt and meaningful.
As a side bar – my Dad did not like swimming, so what he is about to do here, plus the sheer enormity of this event in world history, is simply amazing to me.
To my father and all the brave troops that took part in this historic event – thank you all and may you rest in peace.
