Good evening all!
This week I am visiting camps in the mid west. You can follow my adventures as I meet our J-1 Exchange Visitors who are working as Counselors and Support Staff at camps.
After flying into Minneapolis on Sunday I was up bright and early for a 2 hr drive to YMCA Camp Pepin to meet our Exchange Visitors.
I got a great camp tour and hung out with Diego and Ignacio, who were camera shy but are having a blast at camp.
This is a view of Lake Pepin From one of the cabins at camp
Afterwards is was a 3 hr drive to my next destination. This was one of the nicer drives I took as it was along the banks of the Mississippi almost all the way, and I had a short stop in la Crosse for lunch.
I arrived at Wisconsin badger camp at 3pm, on schedule.
Wisconsin Badger Camp serves Special Needs populations and its my first visit. What a beautiful and wonderful place.
This is a view from one of their overnight sites. Thats the Mississippi river in the distance.
I got so spend some great time with our J-1 Exchange visitors there n the SWT and Camp Counselor programs, several of whom I had met during pre arrival orientations. I was greeted with hugs and some great stories of camp!
Here we are, what a handsome few!
After that it was a 2 and a half hour drive up to the Wisconsin Dells to the hotel (where I write this from).
Tomorrow starts at 6am with a drive to Camp Helen Brachman. Then onto Camp Horseshoe, Marimeta, Menominee and Chippewa Ranch Camp!
Till tomorrow, adios, this guy needs sleep
In camps blinding light and deafening thunder
