What is Camp New York
Camp New York is a Summer Camp in America organization and is officially part of the IENA family.
Camp New York offers participants from all around the world the opportunity to experience summer camp placements in the New York tristate area, with typical placements no more than 3 hours’ drive from Manhattan or within New York state itself.
Our amazing program gives you the chance to spend your summer getting paid to teach/coach the activities you love. This could be teaching activities like Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Dance, Climbing, Photography and many more….
How long do Camp New York placements last and when do they start?
Camp New York placements usually last 9 weeks, but it varies from camp to camp. Most placements start around mid-June and last until around mid-August, but they can start as early as May 1 st . You then have 30 days after the completion of your Camp New York placement to travel around New York and the rest of the USA.
Who is Camp New York’s Visa Sponsor?
IENA is the official visa sponsor for each and every Camp New York participant globally. IENA are an owner of Camp New York.
Can Camp New York offer placements outside of the New York area?
Camp New York can also offer placements outside of this area and in other states around the USA upon request. This option is through the Camp New York application system.
Who are the team behind Camp New York?
Camp New York is headed up by its CEO and co-founder Lee McAteer, IENA’s CEO and co-owner Matt Buczek and Camp New York co-owner Martyn Best. Collectively through bothIENA and Camp New York, there are over 100 years of Summer Camp experience betweeneveryone!

What Is Camp?
Summer Camp is an integral part of the American culture. Over ten thousand summer camps exist across America, each with their own history and traditions which have grown over many, many years. Over 10 million children attend camp each year, from the beaches of Hawaii to the mountains in Vermont….all across America!
A camp’s main goal is to create a fun, safe environment for all children. Camps will encourage children to try new activities and get out of their comfort zone in a physically and emotionally safe and supported environment.
What It Takes to Work at Camp
Campers range in age from 6 to 16 with some special needs camps also offering opportunities for young adults. Camps will hire staff from many different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. The campers love the diversity of the staff and fellow campers, this makes for a fantastic blend of people and an amazing summer.
Within all the camps we work with, just about every personality, quirk, and skill set has a home. This applies to both campers and staff. If you have a positive outlook and are willing to get out of your comfort zone, we have a camp for you. Don’t panic if you are not a professional athlete, coach, or have years of teaching experience, we will coach you through the process and give you all the tools you need. Assuming you are 18 by June 1st and are willing to give your all then we can help you!
